PRESS RELEASE
LAMDA Development Group supports the development of the domestic retail trade sector
LAMDA Estate Development is the official sponsor of the 1st Retail Trade International Conference
The LAMDA Estate Development, a subsidiary of the LAMDA Development Group, has the particular honor to participate in the 1st Retail Trade International Conference as an official sponsor. The company contributes in the upgrading of the trading sector of our country through the development of two particularly important shopping centers: the one in the Olympic Press Village in Maroussi and the other one in Pylaia in Thessalonica. Thus, it seals its interest with the specific sponsoring initiative.
The Conference with the subject Retail Trade: Lynchpin of Economic Growth, which was organized by the Federation of the Greek Retail Enterprises (SELPE) was held on Thursday and Friday, April 10th-11th 2003 in the Pentelikon farm. The Conferences works concerned the Greek retail trade sector within the framework of an international environment as well as the development of this sector in our country.
Mr. Lefteris Tasoulas, Trade Director of the LAMDA Estate Development, addressed a speech on the role of real estate companies in the development of the domestic retail trade sector focusing on the activity of the LAMDA Estate Development as well as the two model shopping centers in the Olympic Press Village, Maroussi and in Pylaia, Thessalonica.
Mr Tasoulas characteristically stated: The effort of developing shopping centers began in Greece in the early 80s with the development of urban mullti-storey fashion centers. One could remark that these efforts were unsuccessful. The most important reason, except for some negative conjunctures in some specific developments, was the lack of knowledge of the characteristics of such a development.
What is a shopping center in plain words? It is an area in a nice, spacious, safe, air-conditioned environment with free parking facilities, a place that will be the destination of all the members of a family
The LAMDA Development Group, through its subsidiary - LAMDA Estate Development, develops the first two completed shopping and leisure centers in Greece with a high sense of responsibility, experienced personnel, international partnerships and faith in the Greek markets drive. They are two innovative projects of the kind that will be a jewel for the two largest Greek cities. The domestic retail market asks this new product and the LAMDA Development, by recognizing this need, is the first company to invest in it and to offer it to the Greek market. We consider that this time period is the most appropriate and this movement will significantly contribute in order for the retail trade to come over the present recession and for the Greek consumer to enjoy what all consumers of the most countries worldwide have been enjoying for so many years.
The people that participated in the Conference are the following: the SELPEs members and important delegates of the economic political life, such as the Minister Mr. A. Tzochatzopoulos, Mr. N. Vernikos, President of the International Commercial Chamber, Mr. A. Tamvakakis, Deputy Director of the National Bank of Greece, Mr. D. Foudoukakos, President of the Athens Commercial and Industrial Chamber (EBEA), Mr. I. Spanoudakis, Managing Director of the ATHENS 2004 Organizational Committee, Mr. A. Makris, President of SELPE etc. The former Minister of Great Britain was an honorary guest and addressed a speech in the Conference.
