Athens, 25 May 2023: For the third time in a year, LAMDA Development welcomed to the Ellinikon site, the internationally renowned, multiple award-winning Japanese architect Kengo Kuma who designed Riviera Galleria.

During his visit, Kengo Kuma together with the head of his firm for the project, Aris Kafantaris, inspected the development of the design, the progress of the studies and the selection of materials, the combination of which will highlight the superior aesthetics of the complex and harmoniously connect Riviera Galleria to the coastal landscape. The meeting was attended by Ioannis Ventourakis, head of the BETAPLAN team, the Greek architectural firm that has undertaken to complete the study for the project, as well as Eleftheria Deko, the award-winning lighting designer, who has undertaken the lighting design of the project along with her team.

The Riviera Galleria, with its impressive wavy canopy, inspired by the sails of sailboats, will cover an area of 23,000 sq.m. Its simple lines, the open green spaces, the harmonisation with the natural coastal environment, the elements and materials from the Greek landscape, will be in perfect balance with contemporary design influences, and will be the key features of the new commercial and entertainment destination that will become one of the most organised premium fashion markets and a worldwide culinary destination.

Construction works on Riviera Galleria, which will be located in front of the Aghios Kosmas Marina that is being upgraded by LAMDA Development, will commence in 2023.

Commenting on his visit to The Ellinikon and the progress of works on Riviera Galleria, Kengo Kuma said: “The Riviera Galleria is very close to the sea, and this puts it in harmony with nature, which is very important for this project. What we wish for the facade we are designing, is to reflect our philosophy both for the project and for the architecture of the future.”

The Chief Development & Investment Assets Officer of LAMDA Development, Melina Paizi, stated: “It is always a great pleasure to receive Kengo Kuma and his associates to the iconic Ellinikon project. We are making significant progress and we look forward to the commencement of construction works on a building of unique aesthetics that we believe will become the jewel of the Athenian Riviera.”
